Te company’s three stores are made up of 5,000 square feet (Orem), 7,000 square feet (Ogden), and Salt Lake City (10,000 square feet). Te installation and fabrication facility in Salt Lake City is 8,000 square feet, approximately a mile from the retail shop. Traditional retail shops with full showrooms, stacked product displays, functioning product displays, waiting room, and customer restroom facilities. Tey also include full service, fully stocked installation bays and fabrication facilities. Te company began in 1979 with two stores and added a third in 1989. All three stores are on the street, sepa- rated from high traffic, four lane roads by a sidewalk and small brim. Te drive-by traffic, in all three locations, exceeds 30,000 cars a day. Te walking traffic would also be adjacent to the buildings. But each store has very little daily foot traffic, approximately 50 people per day.

During specific selling seasons, the shop runs stronger marketing promotions that


make it almost impossible for them not to get noticed by their core demographic. To enhance seasonal sales, the company does even more promotions, running endless radio ads, alternating newspaper ads and a monthly ad on cable TV. “We kind of keep it going all the time. The website changes once a day to keep it


fresh. It’s a constant deal,” he said. “One manager at Clear Channel told me we were relentless. We don’t sit behind the counter to wait for people to wander in the door. Plus our buildings are magnificent by themselves all dolled-up. You’re not gonna miss us driving down the street.”


Modern Adaptations As the years have gone by, Magnesen has witnessed a variety of technological


advancements in both marketing resources and products. To adapt, Magnesen merely applied his strategy of staying educated and attacking on all fronts to stay ahead of the game; this meant knowing how to handle Internet selling and its potential affect on his business. “If it’s a factory-authorized Internet seller then we’ll match the price,” he said. “I was in Orem recently and a customer came in with Wave speakers they bought on the Internet. He wanted brackets but it was a third party seller. We have to analyze those situations for the legitimacy of the seller or product as some of them are scams.” Adapting to the times is made to look easy by Magnesen who has worked like a


beast to stay on top of the latest product, marketing, and sales technologies. “The main difference is we’re really selling sophisticated merchandise today. The technology we’re seeing from year to year basically eclipses last year’s, which is part of the fun,” he explained. “We don’t charge for Bluetooth glitch fixes. We rectify
