June 2014

Tere are some things you should never do whilst menstruating (that’s right – screw you patriarchy, I said the ‘m’ word like the fetid, unclean pig that I am.) One is most definitely hang gliding, despite what the Bodyform advert implores you to do. Tat amount of hormones shouldn’t be free-sailing down to earth from hundreds of feet. Te other is writing your final editor’s note, because you might end up doing some cries. OK, *clears throat*. It’s time for me to bid an emotional goodbye. After nearly seven years, it’s time for me to pass on the editorial baton to someone much cleverer than I – and who isn’t on their last warning from the moral police – Lizz Page, who is ace, ace, ace. I can’t describe to you what an honour it’s been to even carry my name next to this essential piece of Norwich’s social scene. To immerse myself in the city’s colour, culture and – of course – carnage has been a rollercoaster. Some thanks: to my team of volunteers – you are Outline. You deliver for the love of it. I’m immensely proud of every one of you. To Scott, our designer: you are the epitome of superfly, home skillet. To Kev, my boss: thank you for letting me offload my inane ramblings on our readership, and only sometimes stopping me swear my way through the whole effing lot. Your trust in me is insane, but I’m eternally grateful. Lastly, to the readers: what a madcap cocking bunch you are. For picking it up, whether it’s to read or just to use us for chip paper, I owe every single one of you so much for giving me the most unforgettable ride of my life. Not that type of ride, you dirty bleeders. We are gifted this incredible, diverse city – go out and enjoy it. No good memoir ever started with “I stayed in and watched Grand Designs”.

Signing off then, for the last time. Keep on keeping on mother funkers.
