A Flavia of June at the Teatre Norwich Teatre Royal


Some of the best-known show tunes, a beautiful set, stunning dancers and 12,000 litres of water per performance are guaranteed when ‘Singin In Te Rain’ takes to the Teatre Royal stage from June 4-14. Te smash-hit story of the first ever Hollywood musical has been a huge hit in the West End and now comes to the city. Expect charm, romance, and plenty of showbiz glamour! Alistair McGowan is set to show the city his stage prowess when he plays Henry Higgins in the classic tale ‘Pygmalion’ from June 16-21 as he aims to turn Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a High Society lady. And there is plenty more glamour towards the end of the month as Strictly’s glamour couple Vincent and Flavia are back in their brand new show, ‘Dance Til Dawn’. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, it sees a glamorous starlet and her handsome lover find romance in this elegant show which features a live band, top-class dancers and plenty of the pin-sharp choreography. Catch their show on June 23-28.


Give a Gig Launch Te Garage


Te East of England is getting a musical boost from the charitable folk at the (National Foundation of) Youth Music. Te Garage is getting funding to the tune of £100,000, which has been raised as part of Give a Gig’s nationwide efforts, and will be a huge kickstarter in the career of budding musicians. Give a Gig is a hugely encompassing charity that acts as umbrella for massive London O2 gigs, to small musical pub gatherings, all in the name of raising moolah for musicians. Emma Healey Book Launch Waterstones, Norwich

It’s no secret that Norfolk is bristling with some of the most exciting literary talent in the UK, and even internationally. Kazuo Ishiguro and Anne Enright, to name just two of the UEA’s Creative Writing alumni, have both had their novels sold over the tills of Norwich’s Waterstones, but now the tomes are coming from behind the till, as MA Creative Writing student, and Waterstones retail assistant, Emma Healey launches her first novel, ‘Elizabeth is Missing’. She steps to the other side of the counter on 3rd of June, for her ‘Elizabeth is Missing’ book launch. Described as “a wonderfully haunting story; we follow Maud's attempts to battle her own dementia, and unravel the mystery of her lost friend.” Te event is free, and refreshments will be provided. Tere will be an opportunity to buy a signed copy of the book on the night.
