THE BEST LIVE MUSIC FOR THE MONTH AHEAD

People feel happier in the sun, don’t they? But the punishment for our

indulgence is that the heat turns us all bat shit crazy. It feels like something’s

coming: something big. We’ve got a seven-year shift bumbling its way towards us folks, but

maybe that means more kids in bands, or more shows or more people

getting off their bony little arses and taking some

action. Here’s hoping. Now is the time. Get fresh.

On the 1stgo and see some glam-inspired shiny indie rock from Te Struts at Norwich Arts Centre.Tey’re all male.

On the2nd,male songwriter Paolo Nutini is sold out. Sorry about that. I bought all tickets on the day of release to stop anyone from going. Not for any other reason other than I could. Instead you could go and see male-fronted Night Engine + Keep Up + Tere’s Someone In Te Pond + Te Rumbleat Open.Tat’ll be pretty swell I think.

Female Tea Gilmore(a woman) is at Epic on the2nd. A year into her career, the British music press were describing he “one of the few world-class female singer- songwriters Britain has ever produced”. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED, ARE YOU ACTIVELY TRYING TO PISS ME? Let me think, I’m thinking a few things…base level… ignorance… culturally… engrained… chauvinistic… bullshit.

On the 3rdgo see male folk duo Harry Bird & the Rubber Wellies play at the Bicycle Shop.

On the 4ththere’s a show that I think will be truly excellent at NAC: [Live] Art Club presents Delia Derbyshire Day Tour 2014.

Girls Names

Electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshireis most famous for realising the iconic original Dr Who Teme in 1963.Tis is an homage to her in the form of a performance and documentary.

GRAVY’S TRACK OF THE MONTH ‘JAMAICA’ BY EMILY WINNG

You’re positively spoilt for the4th because the very same day you can go see one of my favourite bands, Warpaintat the UEA or head down to Opento see Fairport Conventionwith your stoner girlfriend. Either way.

Males Peter Broderick & Greg Haines play NACfor Bare Feet Presents along with my faves Wooden Arms.Tat’s at NACon the 6th.Tis is gonna be really sweet I think folks. Take a risk. Peter is from Efterklang. You like them don’t you? Yeah, that’s right.

Local faves and male-fronted Pout At Te Devil + Spot + Dirty Rotten Cashplay at the Waterfronton the 7th.

On the7th, PONY UP! returns with Summer Knees Up Part 1 at NAC;LAWis headlining and we have the debut of new local bandColossusand loads more. It’s ONLY £3. No excuses.

On the same day maybe go see Te Condiments Collectivepresents: male- fronted Kodeta, Rad Früand Loco Motif@ Te Waterfront Studio.

By the way, there’s a whole heap of shit you can go see at Tetford Forest this summer but that don’t come into my jurisdiction so go do your own research.

Freestyle percussive jazz hits NACon the 15th in the form of male Steve Noble &

Assif Tsahar + GREEDYADAM.

Te brilliant male-fronted Girls Names return toEpic on the 18th

and my shit hot pop band are supporting so I’ll see you there.

Dexy’s are at Te Waterfronton the 24th or wait ‘til the next day and seeGary Numan + Roman Remains.Oui?

Local men Te Burning Crowsplay with Burn Te Headlinesand Tearaway@Te Waterfront Studioon the 26th.

To be honest there ain’t a huge amount on. But that’s OK as we prepare for the fezzies. Make sure it picks back up soon though Norwich, or I’m not gonna have shit to write for you. And as the anticipation you feel for reading Liveline is similar only to the longing you have for a lost lover, then we wouldn’t want to get ourselves into that pickle would we?

Fuck endings – our gang right here, we’re into new beginnings. Emma Outline will be so missed, a true champion of Norwich and the arts, a talented writer and editor and nothing but fully supportive of her team. She’s let me sprinkle my swears and opinions throughout Liveline and has made me feel like I have something valid to write. Tat’s a debt you can never repay. She’s off to for a new adventure; life is for the living folks. We’ll miss you Em xx
