Robert Rice, former federal pros- ecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice in New York City, was appointed as chief counsel to Mary Jo White, the chairwoman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Steve Farrell completed his 30th year with the Cooper Institute, a nonprofit research and education organization focused on preven- tative medicine, in Dallas, Texas. Recently, he has published six papers: three in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and one each in Obesity, Journal of Women’s Health, and Circulation: Heart Failure.

Richard R. Mckeon is the athletic director and physical education teacher at Venice High School in Los Angeles, Calif.


Andrew R. Strout was named Southern edition Coach of the Year by The Forecaster for his work coaching the Cape Elizabeth (Maine) boys’ tennis team. The team won the state title this year giving Strout 24 total state titles in his career.


Mark W. Teed is the senior vice president, investments, for Raymond James.

Ellen (Demos) Blestos (G’87) visited Greece during the summer of 2013 with her husband and children. She also had a chance to visit with Spiros Griveas G’13 and his wife, Vania.

Mary lynn (Bartolomei) Jacobs ‘81, has authored her second textbook, Orthotic Intervention for the Hand and Upper Extremity: Splinting Principles and Process, 2e, which is used in the Springfield College Occupational Therapy Program. Jacobs had help from some of the College’s alumni, including Sabrina (Cote) Cassella ’05, G’06, and Jessica (Griffin) scheff ’06, who coauthored a chapter on neoprene orthoses. Caryn (Alletto) salwen ’93, G’98, and Erin (o’rourke) fuller G’01 also provided Jacobs with support and assistance during the development of the book. Jacobs discusses her commitment to Springfield College students in the newly produced Springfield College Impact of Giving videos (springfieldcollege.edu/giftreportvideos) and is a Trustee of Springfield College.
