Town Talk Scouts’ thanks

A SNODLAND man who has col- lected paper and cardboard for the Scouts for 25 years has been presented with a watch. Brian Phillips, of Simpson Road, re- ceived the gift from Peter Byrne, Snod- land group Scout leader, and Steve Cameron, group chairman.

Collecting the paper from busi- nesses and houses twice month is a major fundraiser for the Scouts, bringing in £8,000 a year. Brian said he regretted having

to stop taking part in the collec- tions but was doing so on med- ical advice.

ANN Barnes, the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner, had a very brief visit to Snodland as part of her community outreach bus tour. After spending time in West Malling she met members of Snod- land Town Council to discuss po- lice visibility in the town. She said crimes should be re- ported to ensure that police were deployed in areas that most needed them. Mrs Barnes had been due to

walk round the town with council- lors but had to return to her office.
