Life skills help


THE Beat Project in Snodland is teaming up with Circle Housing to run a life skills course at the Cof- fee & Chat session at Snodland Workingmen’s Club, Holborough Road, on Wednesdays. Jenny Wheeler, community de- velopment coordinator at the Beat Project, said: “Each week will have a different focus and, by the end, participants will have an indi- vidual development plan, some new found confidence and poten- tially some new friends.”


A SNODLANDstudent is in the top one per cent of the 30,000 stu- dents in the UK who took an ex- amination in financial studies. Jaimee Mallion, of Taylor Road,


was a pupil at Maidstone Girls Grammar School and now studies at the University of Kent. She won a £750 scholarship towards her degree from the Institute of Finan- cial Services University College. In December 2007, Town Talk reported that Jaimee had received a Triumph over Adversity award and was chosen by St John Am- bulance to meet the Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace “as a young achiever.”

A SNODLAND woman is run- ning in the London Marathon to raise funds for a life-saving de- fibrillator for a local school. Georgina Nicolettos, whose


family owns Andrew’s Fish Bar in the High Street, Snodland is the constituency assistant for Chatham and Aylesford MP, Tracey Crouch. Georgina (23), who lives at Edgeler Court, off Hollow Lane, said: “A defibrillator can be used when someone goes into


cardiac arrest to get the heart pumping again. “This piece of equipment can


be the difference between life and death.” Georgina (right) runs regu-
