Respite
Respite refers to short term, temporary care provided to older people with a disability so their families can take a break from the daily routine of care giving. Services can be provided at home, a day-care centre or residential care facilities. Respite can be as short as an hour or as long as a week. You may be eligible for HACC services if you are a person who is frail, with a disability or dementia or HIV/AIDS, a war veteran/widow or a carer for any of these people. HACC services are subsided by the Commonwealth and the NSW government. Also see: Day Respite and Care Centres, Dementia Specific Services
