About the Seniors & Care Guide

By Jana Pearce This Guide started from small beginnings in 2005 to grow to the 132 page magazine it is today. As the Premier of NSW and Member for Ku-ring-gai, Barry O'Farrell MP says in his message on page 6, the Seniors & Care Guide "is a one-stop shop for seniors and their families to find information on services and support in 13 Local Government Areas across our city". The success of the Seniors & Care Guide would not be possible without the ongoing commitment and support provided by the Over 55s/Aged Care and Community Services officers, and the Community Information librarians at the participating local councils. These local councils contribute content so that this guide covers the services and activities in your local area.

See the Credits section on page 10 for

the details of the local council officers and Community Information librarians who contribute towards this Guide. Local councils provide a program of seminars, activities and events for seniors and their carers. Contact your council for details of upcoming events including those held in Seniors Week. A special thank you to the community

groups that contribute by updating their listings to ensure the correct details are published. The Seniors & Care Guide continues

to be distributed free of charge because of the on-going support and community commitment of the organisations who advertise in the Guide - many of whom have supported and sponsored the Guide since its very first edition in 2005.

The sponsorship

of the advertisers ensures the Guide can be published and distributed across the entire Sydney Metro North region stretching from east Parramatta, The Hills, Northern Districts, upper and lower North Shore, and the Northern Beaches and Forest areas. Please support the advertisers whenever

possible so they continue be involved in the Guide.

If you have any questions about services

or need help, refer to the Connecting You with Your Community checklist on page 8 - here you'll find a list of essential contact phone numbers.
