With 28 years of experience work- ing at some of the biggest clubs in his area, Witt has experienced all the highs and lows that come with the territory. Four years ago, he decided it was time to strike out and create a more

relaxed and less corporate neighbour- hood club. At 3,500 square feet, The Gym on


Locke may not be large, but it has been beautifully designed with exposed brick, lots of windows, an outdoor pa- tio and barbeque and more. “We have a closed membership of


450, so we know everyone by name,” says Witt, referencing his team of six personal trainers. Only one problem. Witt is has a


terrible memory for names. His club management software sends every member’s name and photo to Witt’s computer screen in his office as they swipe in and enter the club. “Greeting


people by name is just a little thing, but it makes a difference.” Fortunately, Witt’s management


software does lots of big things too – tasks that used to be handled by ad- ministration and accounting people in the past. With his current set up, Witt is able to function easily without front desk staff or admin staff at all, just a bookkeeper who organizes his quar- terly and annual reports. “It calculates my revenues, taxes,


income, personal training fees, mem- bership fees, tracks attendance, who referred, staff scans in and out to show attendance for payroll purposes etc.,” he says.
