Dunblane based contemporary artist, Angela T Edgar produces unusual textile artworks. Enlarged postage stamps and classic Penguin book covers feature in her latest works.


Her inspiration comes from a curious obsession of sourcing interesting fabrics ranging from vintage linens and Harris tweeds to offcuts from the floor of a designer’s studio.


“I’m drawn to using old or discarded fabrics because they all have a story to tell. By re-using them I’m preserving memories and history from the fabric’s original provenance.”


The uniqueness of her work continues with every piece of fabric hand cut and then entirely hand sewn into place.

Angela’s large books will form part of the forthcoming exhibition “OCTAVO FIKA / Narrative” at The Colour Room, Stockbridge, Edinburgh. The exhibition will take place between November 25th and December 2nd as part of Book Week Scotland 2013. Further information at www.angelatedgar.com
