PC Simon Fraser & PC Andy Faulds Winter Home Security

There has been a slight increase of recent break-ins in and around the Dunblane police area.

Historically thieves will target homes in certain areas which are empty during the day or have no lights on in the early evening.

Shorter winter days provides criminals with increased opportunities to commit thefts.

But this winter you can help by reducing the windows of opportunity for housebreakers by taking a few simple cost eff ective security measures.

Keep items of value i.e. car keys, wallet or other valuables out of reach of the thief. (High value vehicles have been targeted by thieves)

Fit good quality time switches set to activate just before darkness falls.

(a

radio coming on is also a good idea, a talk show e.g. ‘fi ve live’ is good sense)

Ensure garages and outbuildings and property within are secure. Do not leave tools or ladders lying around which may be of use to a thief.

Be vigilant - not just of your own property but also your neighbours’

or a vehicle, note down any description or registration rather than commit to memory, every little bit of information no matter how trivial it seems helps.

Police Scotland offi cers in our area will be proactively patrolling and carrying out road checks aimed at preventing crime. There is currently an ongoing operation which involves local offi cers carrying out spot checks at identifi ed times of the day and night in an attempt to disrupt the activity of criminals.

Information and working together

We would request that information, however insignifi cant it may seem, be passed to police at Dunblane regarding any issues of what may be deemed of a criminal nature. We will endeavour to monitor all problems that may arise in Dunblane and address any other issues that may come to light and with your assistance we can maintain the safe town that it is.
