STAFF AWARDS
The following staff achievement awards were presented this year
COMMUNITY SERVICES OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award was presented to Adam Harding and the Horsham Regional Art Gallery Team for maintaining a successful, engaging and professional public program during a period of uncertainty in less than ideal conditions.
CORPORATE SERVICES OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award was presented to Diana McDonald, Risk Management Co- ordinator, in recognition of her positive and professional attitude. Diana has developed a risk management framework and strategy and co- ordinated the Liability Mutual Insurance audit which saw a significant improvement in Council’s rating.
PLANNING AND PROMOTION SERVICES OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award was presented to Brodie Paul, Town Planner, in recognition of his dedication, professionalism and commitment to customer service and his knowledge of the Victorian Planning Legislation.
CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAM AWARD
This award was presented to the Flood Recovery Team – Dave Tepper, Emma Hynes, Peter Cowie, Heather Proctor, Martin Duke, Patrick Barrett, Robin Neilson, Susan Surridge, John Martin, Priyan Wijeyeratne and Melissa Morris. The flood response required a significant amount of co- operation around funding, planning, project management of building works, road construction, other asset restoration, assisting community groups with non Council assets, innovative and creative approaches to project conception and planning, creative and meaningful responses to the social needs of the flood affected community and interaction with the State Government.
IAN MARIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD
The Ian Maria Customer Service Award honours the memory of the late Ian Maria, Cadet Building Inspector, who passed away suddenly in January 2012. Ian was well known and highly regarded within the organisation and the community for his professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to duties. He prided himself on attention-to-detail and responsive customer service. This award will be made annually in memory of Ian and to promote the admirable manner in which he served the Horsham Rural City Council and its customers.
The inaugural Ian Maria Customer Service Award was presented to Julie Anson, Rates Assistant, in recognition of her outstanding customer service skills. Julie is always friendly, helpful and efficient in her dealings with internal and external customers and her knowledge of Horsham and district is a credit to her.
ROBERT (ROB) JORY OPERATIONS DEPOT STAFF EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
This award honours the memory of the late Mr Robert Jory, Council’s Operations and Services Engineer from 1996 to 2006. Rob passed away suddenly on 25 November 2006. This award is made to a staff member who has shown exemplary performance in work ethics of: pride, corporate image, customer service, leadership, attitude, initiative, reliability, teamwork and workplace safety. This year, the Robert Jory award was presented to David Puls, Footpath inspector.
This healthy morning tea was just one of the fundraising events held in support of Movember - Ten staff participated in Movember raising $1,539 for this worthy cause
