FEBRUARY 2013


The Wimmera Intermodal Freight Terminal Project is selected as a finalist in the annual LGPro Awards for Excellence.


An official “sod turning” ceremony at Longerenong College to celebrate construction commencement of a new Bayer Crop Science wheat and oilseeds breeding station is held. Horsham Rural City Council and the Wimmera Development Association worked closely with WorkCo Ltd, Longerenong College and Regional Development Victoria for almost three years to negotiate the development of this important facility - one of seven sites to be established world-wide.


MARCH 2013


Horsham Rural City Council adopts a framework for managing policies and procedures throughout the organisation.


APRIL 2013 In conjunction with Wimmera Development Association and the five


regional councils, Horsham Rural City Council hosts an information booth at the second annual Regional Living Expo in Melbourne (see page 26).


Horsham Rural City Council hosts a visit to the municipality by the Governor of Victoria, the Hon Alex Chernov AC QC and Mrs Elizabeth Chernov.

MAY 2013


Horsham Rural City Council signs a formal Memorandum of Understanding with Regional Cities Victoria which includes the 10 largest regional cities outside metropolitan Melbourne - Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Horsham, Latrobe, Mildura, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Warrnambool and Wodonga.


The Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Growth Plan, which covers the municipalities of Hindmarsh, Horsham, Northern Grampians, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack, and identifies opportunities for encouraging and accommodating growth and managing change over the next 30 years, is adopted by Council.


JUNE 2013


Mayor, Cr David Grimble, officially opens the Mt William Creek Nature Trail Walk in Dadswells Bridge.


An official opening of the “Tennis 6” tennis court


reconstruction project is held at the Sunnyside Bowling Club in Horsham. This project was made possible due to funding received through the Natural Disaster Fund to reconstruct tennis courts at six locations in the municipality – Central Park, Sunnyside, Haven, Telangatuk, Brimpaen and Quantong, due to significant damage incurred by the January 2011 flood event (see page 23).
