Tony was appointed to the restructured position of Director Planning and Economic in October 2012. He has 37 years of experience in Local Government and was previously employed as the Director Corporate and Economic Services. Prior to this, Tony worked in Senior Management positions and as a Chief Executive Officer in Local Government in South Australia.


Areas of responsibility: Planning and Economic Services encompasses a variety of building, planning and regulatory services including traffic/parking control and animal management. This department provides economic development and business support through major projects such as industrial estates and the Wimmera Intermodal Freight Terminal and also oversees tourism and events marketing, including the Horsham and Grampians Visitor Information Centre


Services include: Building and Planning Services, Regulatory Services, Building and Asset Maintenance, Local Laws, School Crossing Supervisors, the Wimmera Business Centre, Horsham and Grampians Visitor Information Centre, Tourism and Major Events Marketing and the Horsham Caravan Park.


Robin commenced at Horsham Rural City Council in 1995 and retired in December 2012. His career in Local Government spanned over 37 years.


There were many significant achievements during Robin’s 17 years with Council including oversight of the construction, completion and operation of the Horsham Aquatic Centre. He also worked closely with groups to establish important community assets including the Horsham Christian Emergency Food Centre and the recently constructed Quantong Pavilion. Robin’s expertise in building, planning and promotion matters has guided Council through many difficult decisions.


We sincerely thank Robin for his significant contribution during his time at Horsham Rural City Council and wish him well in his retirement.

Effective management of traffic/parking control including 1,033 on-street, 649 off-street and 1,536 free car parks
