5-year animal ban for Henry’s owner
WHENthe RSPCA was first alerted about Henry, he was so malnourished he could hardly stand up. Malling area inspector Andrew Kirby said
Henry, a lurcher-cross, was the thinnest dog he had seen in 15 years of animal cruelty work. “He was in a terrible state – emaciated
with a very nasty neglected ear infection which made him very uncoordinated and unbalanced. He was trying to lick the re- mains of some powder from a hot chocolate bottle,” added Mr Kirby. Henry's owner, Bradley Fossett, of Laven-
derWalk, East Malling, who pleaded guilty to two charges of causing unnecessary suf- fering, was banned fromowning animals for five years, ordered to carry out 60 hours un- paid work and to repay the full £4,456 costs of the case. Fossett originally took the dog to the vet

DETECTIVES have reminded motorists to make sure vehicles are locked when not in use follow- ing five crime reports relating to cars parked in East Malling. The incidents happened overnight on a Fri-
day/Saturday. The cars were parked on the own- ers’ driveways or in a parking area and were all thought to have been left insecure. Not all had items stolen but SatNavs and a digital camera were among belongings that were taken. Det Sgt Jason Booth said: ‘These incidents
were all avoidable. Whoever is responsible walked through the area looking for easy pick- ings and was able to take advantage of a number of insecure cars. Make sure your car is locked when you leave it and don’t leave items of value
a chronic ear infection and was extremely disorientated when the RSPCA went to the house in April after a member of the public raised the alarm. He weighed just 6kg. But young Henry quickly recovered. After
two weeks of proper feeding he had dou- bled his weight. Now, he is 17kg. Henry was given intensive treatment for
his ear infection, which has now cleared up. But, sadly, he has lost his hearing. Mr Kirby said: “He is a lovely affectionate
dog and now he is back to full health he would make a great pet for somebody. “He will have to be taught basic com-
mands using hand signals, and would suit a family with older children. He has been neutered and micro-chipped, and he also seems to love other dogs.” Anyone who is interested should call

‘Lock your cars’ warning after Satnav thefts
in your vehicles because thieves know all the hiding places. “When officers see vehicles with property on display they will make efforts to track down the owner of the vehicle and give them appropriate crime reduction advice but locking the vehicle has to be the responsibility of the owner.” The incidents happened in Middle Mill Road,
Mill Street, Upper Mill, Cottenham Close and Elm Crescent. Info: 01732 379217.
