Town Talk alk Simone wins Miss Cinderella crown

SIMONE Morris, the Miss Teen Princess featured in the last issue of Town Talk, has been crowned Miss Cinderella inWales. Fifteen-year-old Simone of Malling

Road applied to take part in the UK Cinderella Pageant Scholarship, sent photographs and was accepted to par- ticipate at Cardiff University. She said there were competitions for

Tots, Little Miss, Miss, Miss Teen and adults. “I was the only person in the compe-

tition who was not Welsh,” she said. “We had to answer questions first of all then in the first round I was dressed in a Halloween outfit as a pumpkin, the second round was a dance and for the

catwalk I wore a dress I had bought on the internet.” Simone won the first round, she then

won the Miss Teen section and finally was declared the overall winner of the whole pageant. “When we were waiting for the re-

sult I did not expect it to be me,” she added. “When they announced my name my

whole face lit up, I couldn’t stop smil- ing.”

Simone will now take part in a pag-

eant in London in May which could lead to an international title in Las Vegas. She has also been asked to take part in a Miss Beautiful Princess pag- eant in Sunderland early next year.

Youngsters to get off-road bike track

AN OFF-ROAD bike track is to be built for young people in Snodland and sur- rounding villages. Police Commu-

nity SupportOfficer Kim Hatchard (pic- tured) has spent al- most 18 months looking for a suit- able site. “We have an issue

with mini motos and bikes at Holly Hill and on farm- land in the area and the youngsters have told me they have nothing to do and would like a bike track,” she said.

Kim has been helped by the Friends and Bikers Motorcycle

Club and its members will as- sist with the running of the track, which is just outside Snodland. Noise testing has

been carried out on the two-acre field to ensure there will be no disturbance to local residents. Kim explained:

“If supervision, safety and sensible control measures are put into place I be- lieve that we can

make a difference to the com- munity by enabling the young people to enjoy a sport in a safe environment. “This will encourage, moti- vate and build self-confidence

Students get sports invitation

SNODLAND Sports Association has invited students at Holmes- dale Technology College to become involved with any of the sports clubs in the town. Mel Rayfield, chairman of the association which represents all

the town’s sports clubs, said: “We approached the college and re- ceived quite an enthusiastic reception. The regular college newslet- ter will give details of our member clubs for students who may wish to pursue their interests in a particular sport.” Val Thomas, the Extended Schools Co-Ordinator at the Malling Holmesdale Federa- tion, said it was a useful link for the school to have contact with sporting associations and, hopefully, it would be a chance for students to join local clubs.
