08 EVENT REVIEW Kaff Bar 68 Atlantic Rd, Brixton, SW9 8PY Tel: 020 7274 5373 Kaff Bar Brixton - like your own living room, but cooler (with your own cocktail maestro)! S

tepping into the low lit, low- seated venue the staff are smiley and the atmosphere is chilled. Placing down the note pad he was using to tweak a new cocktail recipe Emanuel asked which tastes we were partial to and then proceeded to make us two very different gin based cocktails. Showcasing acute attention to detail and explaining the ingredients used he placed a creamy pink cocktail next to me. As soon as you taste Emanuel’s inventions it becomes apparent that the bar is very rightly the focal point of this room. My gin, elderflower, Martini and home-made ginger beer tasted incredible, as did Jess’s sweet tasting tipple with gin, crème de peche (pear), lemon,

egg white and home made pomegranate juice cocktail.

As we sat down the cute details jumped out at us. A daisy in a green bottle on our table and Andrew’s homemade brownies laid out on the bar made this Brixton bar feel a world away from London. The one colourful reminder of the urban location was the artwork on the walls by Tizer One. This talented London graffiti artist has left his signature designs on each wall giving this comfortable, homely

atmosphere an edge.

The weekdays are one thing, but on a Friday or Saturday night, the eclectic mix of events increase the energy to weekend worthy heights. The Cake and Cabaret evening on a Sunday sounds like my sort of scene, but if that doesn’t entice you I can assure you there will be another night to visit this intimate bar with infinite appeal.
