A Night With Marsha Ambrosius


What better way to make up for a dreary, when-will- winter-just-go- away type of start to the week than by spending your evening inside a stunning venue to see an equally stunning vocal maestro.


On Monday, 25 February, the beautifully restored Islington Assembly Hall was home to hundreds of Marsha Ambrosius fans – just as it was the day before for the first of two concerts in London. Before Ms Ambrosius graced us with her presence, opening act Jesse Gamage did himself proud. And Bashiyra – no stranger to the neo-soul circuit – also delivered a decent set complete with live band, singing songs both old and new.


Soon after, whilst the stage was prepared for Marsha’s minimalist ‘just me and my DJ’ set, the crowd was treated to the sounds of everyone from Nas and Lauryn Hill in the 90s to the very 21st century Kendrick Lamar.


Then, the spotlights went on, DJ Aktive took his place and on came the star of the night, much to the delight of all the loyal Marshians in the house, who’d been eagerly awaiting this day since the
