From the figures in tables 3 and 4 it is clear that the USA authors has maintained their strong position throughout the decade, making-up roughly one half of the total author pool. The North-American-Western Europe core has strengthened their already strong hold, even more so when impact factor is also taken into account (cf. tables 5 and 6). By the end of the decade they made up some 90 percent of the total author pool.
The contribution of the countries of the Far East to this pool is presented in tables 7 and 8.

From tables 5 and 6 it is clear that in the top Education journals, there is no sign of a rising Eastern antipode on the world scene; and scholars from the countries of East Asia continue to contribute a minuscule proportion of all knowledge produced.
The role of authors from the Global South is presented in tables 9 and 10
