The potential limitations of the study are apparent in that it only focused on HODs, who are only a small part of the bigger process that encompasses leadership and management at strategic level. On this basis one needs to admit that the study is limited in its generalisability of the institution's PMS.
Suggestions for Future Research
The study was limited to academic HODs, which addresses only a part of institutional population. It suggests a need for a broader exploration of PMS within the institution at all levels. Starting at the highest level of leadership, right down to the lowest academic level. This will assist with an understanding of experiences of a more varied population of staff.
