LOCAL PRODUCER
Brixham is second to none, so it is no wonder all the top chefs look here for their suppliers.
“I'd say in the past 5 years the public have woken up to the fact that we really are spoilt for choice in our waters and have taken to fish such as gurnard, which not so long ago was rejected,” remarks Neil.

media by running its own Facebook and Twitter pages. This way they can keep everyone up-to-date with daily life in Brixham; in so doing, they make people more aware of Brixham’s fishing industry and what fantastic fish is on offer.
In 2009, David and Neil started an overnight delivery service to anywhere in the UK. This has proved very popular, allowing anyone to create tailored orders, no matter how big or small, and receive fresh fish within 48 hours of it being caught.
This, coupled with Brixham’s reputation for having some of the
country’s finest selection of seafood available, has resulted in greater demand outside of the town. David Walker and Sons now serve customers all over the country, from the people of Brixham to wholesalers and restaurants throughout the UK, including the well-regarded Punch Bowl in Mayfair. But they have not forgotten their roots and still operate a small market stall in Brixham Fish Quay for locals and holidaymakers. Their belief is that everyone should be able to have a taste of Brixham in their kitchen, no matter where it is or their budget.
The variety and quality of the fish in It is clear that Neil, his family and his
staff are passionate about quality seafood and making it accessible to all. Top of his list at the moment is fresh haddock fillets caught by Brixham’s day boats. In fact haddock is Neil’s favourite fish and he likes nothing more than to place it in foil, sprinkle it with something simple such as salt and pepper, add a lemon slice or two, wrap and bake for 20 minutes. Easy, simple and delicious – anyone can do it! This simple method is also applied to
their fresh scallops, but instead of being wrapped in foil, they are baked in their own shells. There is nothing more natural or satisfying. This family run business takes pride in every aspect of the supply of local, sustainable fish and seafood, supporting Brixham’s fleet of boats and ensuring a future for them for many years to come. ‘What we have tried to build is a Cathedral of the Gill and Gut’ – Neil Walker F
