Experiencing Vulnerability

Appreciating Yellow Bus Drivers

The industry's "Love the Bus" event is being celebrat-

ed Feb. 12 in Arlington, Va. It is in honor of the nation’s school bus drivers and the work they do each and every day. In attendance will be U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood (invited) and elected officials, and students to show their appreciation for their school bus drivers with drawings and Valentine’s Day cards. Love the Bus is the kick-off to similar local events such as one on Feb. 21 in Richmond, Va. Visit www.stnonline.com/go/q for more details.

In a blog by STN contribu- tor and attorney Peggy Burns, owner of Education Com- pliance Group, she describes a recent experience she had that gave her greater insight regarding students with special needs. Burns then advises school officials, and bus drivers specifically, how they can be more considerate of their special

needs passengers. For the full blog by Burns, visit www. stnonline.com/go/u.
