THE VINE Hi gang. Thanks for taking time to read KUDZOO, the magazine of South-

ern music, food and lifestyle. This go-round, we are extremely pleased to pres- ent Derek Halsey’s interview with a true legend of country music, Merle Haggard. As a kid, my first exposure to music came by way of my parents’ records. Mom was into Jim Reeves and Marty Robbins, and my Dad loved Hank Snow, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. I quickly became a fan of Hag- gard myself, and to this day I feel he is one of the best songwriters and singers in the history of country music. As for interviews, we are also thrilled to present our one on one with

Nashville artist Kara Clark, a girl who is nothing short of original, and photog- rapher Kirk West, known by many of you for his road work with The Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule. West is a man of many talents, as you will see in this piece. Musician Randy Joe Galloway turns in an interesting interview with the

Young Brothers, and we set sail with the Rock Legends Cruise II with a mem- oir and a slew of photos. And then there is the annual Charlie Daniels Celebrity Golf Classic and Country Concert event, a yearly benefit for The An- gelus home on Florida. KUDZOO takes you there in words and pictures. Along with all of that, we have reviews of a couple of nice places to get your breakfast on, and a review of the new live album by Tommy Crain & The Crosstown All- stars. There’s even a review of the annual Warren Haynes Christmas Jam, and Roxanne Lark takes it down to Florida for her Southern Lens feature. We welcome your letters, and the best ones will be published, but we will al-

ways answer you back regardless. michaelbuffalosmith@gmail.com And remember, KUDZOO is interactive! Click on the URL in any advertise-

ment or article, or e-mail address, and open the target link in a new browser window! Looking for back issues? Just visit www.universalmusictribe.com, and click on “KUDZOO Archives.” If you have anything you’d like to see in KUDZOO, drop us a note. We’d love

to hear from you. Also, if you have a product or service you’d like to advertise, we would love to work with you.

That’s all for now. Keep it Real. Keep it Southern. Michael Buffalo Smith
