Charlie started off by strapping on a Les

Paul and belting out the blues on “Further On Down The Road,” showing everyone just how hot a guitar picker he still is. Sure, he saws a meant fiddle, but he is also an amazing gui- tarist. Next came

one of my own personal fa- vorites, “Trudy,” funky and southern fried, followed by an apt cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.” Oh yeah. That’s what I’m talk- ing about. “What This World Needs is a Few More Red- necks” got the audience pumped, especially a new verse he added about getting Bin Laden. “Long Haired Country Boy” was next, fol-

lowed by “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” and closer “The Devil Went Down to Geor- gia.” I can’t help it man, but every time I hear that last song now, I really miss Tommy Crain even more. “A band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this...” Charlie sounded great. You can usually count on it. Friday was another fun day. Once again, I

was joined by fiddler Greg Holt for my 90- minute set at the Lobby Bar. Speaking of the Lobby Bar, there is always a rotating line up of entertainers performing there, from 3 PM until 2 AM. This year, performers included The Embry Brothers, N-Kahootz, Rick Stootz, Victoria K., and Alex Hayes. Everybody did a fine job and kept the music rolling. The golf tournament took place on Friday,

That night it was the banquet, held at the Florida Center and Botanical Gardens lo- cated at the Florida State Fairgrounds. It was a great dinner, with a huge silent auction as well as a live auc- tion and plenty of music. Monte Colburn

and the other guys from TV’s Deadliest Catchmade the live auction great fun, with Monte bidding against himself at one point, all in an effort to raise money for Angelus. Music wise, The Sid Yochim Band delivered the goods

on a set of Southern Rock infused country, Brother and sister Sydney and Tucker are both amazing singers, and Tucker can just plain rock on guitar. Their whole band was awesome, and I was won over. Sign me up for the fan club, kids. Later, Charlie Daniels played a mini-set

backed by N-Kahootz, treating everyone to “The Legend of Wooley Swamp,” “Further On Up The Road,” “Amazing Grace” (which he dedicated to the memory of Gar Williams), “Trudy,” “Drinkin My Baby Goodbye,” and of course, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.” It was mighty fine. Saturday was the big concert t The Dallas

Bull, with The Charlie Daniels Band, Confed- erate Railroad and The Locash Cowboys. The music rocked on for several hours, peaking with a stellar set from The Charlie Daniels Band that included all the favorites, “Drinkin’
