NBHA Canada News
Well now Christmas and New Years has come and gone, the directors of NBHA Canada hope that everyone has had a wonderful start to the year. I want to remind everyone about the change in the NBHA rules for this year. The big one for us is the 3 show minimum attendance rule in order to compete at NBHA Finals. That rule has no bearing on attending the World or Regional shows in the US, it just means that you need to have shown 3 NBHA shows in your district in order to be eligible to run at our 2013 Finals. We are having the great futurity trainer, Troy Crumrine back this year to put on a clinic for us. Date will be April 12-13. Cost will be known shortly, depend- ing on the arena facility. Email me at
mcmullend@rogers.com or watch the web- site
http://www.nbhacanada.com/ for more news or to book your spot. This is a small clinic, no more than 15 people.
want. No better way than hands on for him to be able to tell you what your horse needs, and how to go about it.
Troy makes understanding his way easy, and he will get on your horse if you
This year we are having an NBHA booth at the CanAm Equine Emporium 2013 running March 28-31 in Orangeville. The address for the new facility is the Orangeville Event Centre, 47090 5th Sideroad, Sideroad Mono, RR #1 LCD Main, Orangeville L9W 2Y8. All the information can be found at

You can pay up your membership if it is due, get more information on upcoming shows and enter free draws while you are there. Anyone who is thinking of having a show this year, and would like to have infor- mation available for members, please get in touch with me so we can have it for

“I hope people check out what we learned about the secret to show jumping, by listening back in the archive at
cfru.ca when Madison Schnar visited the stu- dio!” (choose program, schedule, Dec 23) raves Kim Logue, providing a photo from the blog.
“She even has great form as a show guest!” Logue also raves about CFRU, a college/community station that recently shared good news about their license renewal, and then announced being awarded a $20,000 grant through the Commu- nity Radio Fund of Canada.
This grant is to strengthen ties to educators and students in Guelph, and includes a pilot program for a CFRU radio camp! This summer, CFRU will run three weeks of summer day camp, each week directed at a different age group. There will be 9 participants in this radio camp for each week of the program. “I’m so proud to be continuing to share knowledge and garner inspiration from such a great staff, and fellow volunteers, at such an amazing station!” Upcoming programs are expected to focus on horse folk from around the cor- ner, who are also recognized nationally and internationally. From Camila Will- ings, Paso Fino breeder and Wind Rider/Horse Dancer celebrity to Gary Yaghdjian, a cer- tified Level 2 English and Western Coach, as well as an Equine Canada Judge.
“We’re changing up the format a bit” announces current co- host John Granger, adding that the pro- grams are expected to start airing as half hour segments on 92.9fm in Fergus on The Grand, “Monday nights at 7- 7:30pm.”
We have set the date for our Spring Thaw 2013. We will be returning to Clinton for the weekend of May 10-12. We will have a small warmup show on the friday night, with the pointed classes for all dis- tricts starting Saturday morning. There will be green as grass events and we will have the 2013 rules for those classes posted soon. We are hoping that each of the districts will
offer this class at their shows, and we will be holding those events at our Big 3, which of course are Spring Thaw, Canada Day and Finals. These will not be pointed classes, but will run. We will of course be having our Canada Day show the long weekend in July, and our Eastern Canadian Finals on the August date. We will notify everyone closer to the time, of the venues for those events also. If anyone has any questions
