Cleansing - Street Cleaning


Street cleaning standards are set by the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (code of practice). We try to maintain high standards of street cleanliness through our street cleaning schedule and regular inspections. If you feel the cleanliness of your area is a problem or you want to report fly-tipping, please contact us. However if you witness someone fly-tipping, details should be reported directly to the police.


The Council’s graffiti removal team will remove graffiti within five working days.


Please note that if the graffiti is on private property, written consent is required from the owner and this may delay removal.

Trading Standards


The trading standards service offers businesses direction on how to comply with legislation relating to price and description of goods, weights and measures, safety of consumer of goods etc. They have a statutory requirement to enforce legislation, in relation to the above as well as underage sales, petrol, tobacco, fireworks, DVDs, spray paints. To assist businesses, they have developed a range of business advice leaflets which is a tailored service allowing businesses to generate their own leaflets. Sports Services Sports services offer a range of activities across the council with four leisure centres offering gyms, swimming pools, saunas, and fitness classes.
