Schools have numerous contacts with local and national business for a variety of reasons including:
• Working together to develop Curriculum for Excellence ensuring positive work related experiences, outcomes and destinations for pupils
• Delivering content in partnership e.g. campus police officers/teachers
• Visiting the workplace • Work experience for secondary pupils • Providing learning materials • Making presentations to learners
• Partnering with teachers to make specific subject lessons more business led
• Providing short placements which enable teachers to experience other working environments and help contextualise learning and teaching
• Business mentors provide 1-1 support to pupils through the Pupil Mentoring Project
• Vocational training for pupils
• Giving pupils ‘real life’ projects of problems to solve.

This service is responsible for maintenance of public highways and footways as well as street lighting. This includes winter maintenance.
