Prestige spirits offer the discerning drinker a quality experience. The experience starts with the container. A beautiful glass bottle or decanter promises that the contents will be equally fine. Stölzle Flaconnage has a high reputation for producing prestige spirit glass containers that add distinction to the fine contents. This year has seen three highly successful examples of its art. Blue Label is considered the pinnacle of Johnnie Walker Scotch Whiskies. For this rare spirit, STO developed an exclusive glass colour: Blue-Label-Blue. The heavy base required technically skilled moulding to ensure even distribution of the molten glass and a brilliant finish. Printing in gold on flux - giving a raised look and feel - was also carried out by STO. The bottle has just won the German Packaging Award for Retail Packaging. STO has also produced the Johnnie Walker X•R whisky decanter, awarded a Highly Commended by Star Pack Awards and short listed in two categories by the UK Packaging Awards. Its stunning visual impact results from highly skilled moulding and printing, finished by flame polishing. For Thor single malt, the first in Highland Park’s Valhalla Collection, STO has produced a bottle with the colour and appearance of antique glass. Two layers of flux overcome the difficulty of printing on such a stressed effect by building a smooth base for the white lettering and Norse symbol. Exact registration of the three layers required tight quality control. The bottle is housed in a carved wooden frame echoing the fearsome contours of traditional Viking ships. £250,000 investment
As part of its ongoing drive towards offering customers world class products and services, Staeger Clear Packaging, one of the UK`s leading transparent plastic packaging producers, has invested in new cutting and embossing equipment at its state of the art production operation. The company has recently taken delivery of a new £250,000 Heidelberg 105 CS Die Cutting and Embossing machine. The latest addition provides double the running speeds of previous equipment, with automatic stripping, direct feed from pallet and automatic changeover between stacks.
