Do not fail to speak to someone Do not skip speaking to an attorney because you are afraid of the cost. You should at least meet with someone and learn the basic rights and obligations that you are facing. You may want to consult with a very experienced at- torney. If you cannot afford their fees, then ask for their recommendation of
someone they would recommend that charges less per hour. Ask if they can be paid to “coach” or answer questions if you represent yourself. But make sure you arm yourself with as much informa- tion as possible. You can certainly have some big regrets later if you do not.
Be very wary of “Do it Yourself “ or fill in the blank forms
While the internet is helpful, I have yet to see a set forms for the public that cover all of the needs of individual par- ties. I often see things that have man- aged to leave out very important details which make the documents useless even though they are legally binding.
