SEPTEMBER 2009 - NEIL TENNANT

JULY 2007 – ENRIQUE IGLESIAS One of our first “big name interviews,” even though he was sort of new to the music scene at the time—a great article where he addressed “the gay rumors” about himself, talked about his relationship with the gay community and admitted to… “lusting over George Clooney.”

OF THE PET SHOP BOYS Of this ‘80s music icon we inter- viewed, Cesar Reyes our Creative Director said this, “‘80s music has been my obsession since I was a little kid. I though Neil was the most handsome guy growing up, espe- cially with that accent. So to have an interview with one of my idols on the pages of The Rage Monthly was a school girl dream come true.”

JULY 2008 – BOY GEORGE Many of us here at the magazine were young’uns in the 80s, so naturally Boy George and Culture Club were a part of our musical heritage. Ever a true androgynous original… a one of a kind for sure, he pushed the boundaries of music, fashion and sexual identity—and we got to write about it.

OCTOBER 2008 – LADY GAGA We are all very proud of this one! The interview was done when she was first bursting on to the scene, just before her meteoric blast-off and right around the time she was playing venues like The House of Blues. In our own way, we like to think we helped fuel the Gaga-rocketship—“to the moon and beyond!” She even did a video shout- out for us, check it out at ragemonthly. com! Sweet and earthly, with that certain “something.” We had a feeling this girl was going to be a BIG monster!

NOVEMBER 2009 - LILY TOMLIN I have such fond memories of this lady from her stint on Laugh In, the place she originated her most endearing characters; Edith Ann and her Rocker and the one-ringy-dingy, two- ringy-dingy, ever-persnickety operator Ernestine, this lady is a true pioneer and one of our favorite funny lesbians!

DECEMBER 2009 – COLIN FIRTH I’m a little gaga for Colin. And truly, who wouldn’t be—so very English and genteel as he chat- ted about his role in the movie A Single Man. He played a gay man so respectfully and intelligently as he dealt with the loss of his long- term partner. I vividly remember the film’s scene in which his partner’s brother called to tell him

his lover of 16 years was dead. There was no hospital for him to go to, no funeral for him to attend (family did not allow and had the right legally to deny him access) and no place to grieve the immense loss—Mr. Firth’s performance was so spot- on—a fantastic actor who received an Oscar nomination (should have won) for the role, who later went on to win the Oscar the next year for The King’s Speech.
