We scour the web, read thousands of ß pitches, hunt through PR announce-
ments and harangue their firms, talk to publicists and managers tossing out ideas. If that wasn’t enough, we then bang on the doors of all the entertainment venues, theatres, nightclubs and bars in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange Counties, looking for the most interesting people to interview, events to attend and happenings to talk about. After all that research, hopefully we’ve passed along something that you have found interesting, or has piqued your curiosity. Because without that support, we are nothing, just one more annoying wad of paper. For me, the sense of satisfaction I get every month after the presses stop, the
pages are cut, folded and encased by the glossy covers is indescribable. It makes all the crazy last-minute additions and changes, which threaten to make my hair grayer than it already is, drop away when we see what has come of all that sweat.
AND COUNTING:
It’s sort of like the Sondheim song: Bit by bit, putting it together Piece by piece, only way to make a work of art Every moment makes a contribution Every little detail plays a part Having just a vision’s no solution Everything depends on execution Putting it together (That’s what counts)
THESE ARE A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR BEST MOMENTS AND CONVERSATIONS OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS!
by joel martens
Every month we work to bring to the table, something new for our readers to enjoy and learn about. Everything done here at The Rage Monthly Magazine is original, we create it all. Our fashion shoots are done with up-and-coming models, featuring local designers and retailers and shot by gifted photographers all over Southern California. All of the stories and all the interviews are done by our cadre’ of talented writ- ers, who actually talk to those we interview. No syndicated regurgitation for us! The write-ups, interviews, stories, quotes and images—every last bit of it—and you can trust me on this, do not appear like magic from the ends of Ollivander-chosen wands as they do in Harry Potter’s world, mystically floating by on the pages of the Tattler. It takes good old-fashioned work and a constant desire to do better, learn and see more.

FIVE TOP EVENTS IN RAGE MONTHLY’S FIRST FIVE YEARS:
June 2007 The first Issue of Rage hits the streets
Don’t get me wrong, I love the work, the conversations with actors, directors, musicians, and all of the characters we talk to are fantastic—and all of the parties, openings, events and shows are ridiculously fun. I have seen more theatre in the last two years than I have in the entirety of my previous (I am so not going to tell you how long that is) life. Who’d have thought this little twerp from middle-of- no-where, Wisconsin would rub an elbow with cast members from Glee, or the ladies from Desperate Housewives? Let alone get to talk with any of them or the likes of Ewan McGregor? Well I guess you could say what I did was talk, I laughed waaaaaay to much—but come on, it was Ewan Mac-G! We all love it and best of all, one really gets a sense that the people in this world,
no matter how big or small their presence may be, are all so very similar inside. Human to the core, hard working and wanting to be more than they are, see more than they have seen, touch more than they have touched, and to experience as much as possible as they walk through this life. It’s a universal truth baby, there is always more out there, so go out and grab as much as you can!
