The Holly- wood Bowl was named “Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue” by Pollstar magazine for the seventh straight year, as one of the most renowned summer cultural venues in the world. Listed below are just a handful of the many summer shows, offering a wide variety of the world’s greatest artists from all genres of music, in concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at its core. . .
OPENING NIGHT AT THE BOWL The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Thomas
Wilkins launches with the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame concert, now in year 13. The Bowl’s star- studded and always memorable Opening Night is one of the most anticipated highlights of the season. Proceeds benefit the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its music education programs. Friday, June 22.
FAREWELL GLEN CAMPBELL In his final L.A. show, Grammy Lifetime Achieve-
ment Award Winner, Country Music Hall of Famer and true icon of American music, Glen Campbell brings his country sensibility and classic hits; “Gentle on My Mind,” “Wichita Lineman,” and “Southern Nights” to the Bowl. In the first half, “American Rock ‘n’ Roll band” Dawes along with special guest friends, will tip their hat to the original “Rhinestone Cowboy.” Sunday, June 24.
4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR WITH BARRY MANILOW In the Hollywood Bowl’s annual great American
extravaganza, iconic singer and songwriter Mr. Barry Manilow joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a night of his personal favorites, some good old-fash- ioned American music, plus spectacular fireworks. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 2, 3 and 4.
FROZEN PLANET LIVE Following the success of Planet Earth Live, the
world premiere of Frozen Planet Live comes to the Bowl’s big screen. Featuring stunning images of the Polar Regions; the Arctic and Antarctic—two of the last great wilderness on Earth as you have never seen them before—with live orchestral accompaniment conducted by award-winning composer George Fenton. Friday and Saturday, July 6 and 7.
BEETHOVEN’S NINTH SYMPHONY The classical season opens with Leonard Slatkin leading Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In celebration of the painter Gustav Klimt’s 150th birthday and his famous Beethoven Frieze, the L.A. Phil and the Getty Museum joined together, to commission video imag- ery, to accompany the famous “Ode to Joy” finale of the symphony. The program features soprano Rachel Willis- Sorenson, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, tenor Gordon Gietz, bass Christian van Horn and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Tuesday, July 10.
SMOKEY ROBINSON The King of Motown, Smokey Robinson is known
for classic hits such as “Tears of A Clown,” “I Second That Emotion,” and “Tracks of My Tears,” debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21
THE DUKE ELLINGTON ORCHESTRA FEATURING BRIAN MCKNIGHT Continuing the legacy of one of America’s greatest
composers, the Duke Ellington Orchestra welcomes special guest vocalist Brian McKnight for a classic night of big band music from the Ellington song- book. Wednesday, August 8.
NORAH JONES The multi-Grammy winner with the smash hits
“I Don’t Know Why” and “Come Away With Me” is an artist of astonishing hypnotic musical versatility. She returns to the Bowl for the first time since 2004. Friday, August 10.
AN EVENING WITH LIZA MINNELLI The icon of stage and screen, queen of cabaret and winner of Tonys, Golden Globes, a Grammy, an Emmy and an Oscar, returns to the Bowl for a special, one- night-only appearance. Saturday, August 11.

Santana—join the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with a special guest appearance by Carlos Santana. The L.A. Philharmonic’s Creative Chair for Jazz devotes this one-of-a-kind evening to peace, with friends and very special guests. Additional artists to be an- nounced. Wednesday, August 29.
THE BIG PICTURE: PARAMOUNT’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY Celebrate Paramount Pictures’ 100th Anniversary
with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by David Newman for an incredible night of nostalgia, featuring unforgettable scores from the studio’s rich cinematic history, including Wings, the very first Academy Award Best Picture winner; The Godfather trilogy; Titanic; and Mission: Impossible–Ghost Pro- tocol among many other favorites. Corresponding scenes will be projected on the big screen. Sunday, September 2.
TCHAIKOVSKY SPECTACULAR WITH FIREWORKS Charismatic conductor Bramwell Tovey returns to
lead the L.A. Phil’s annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular featuring the Russian composer’s most beloved bal- let. In addition to the 1812 Overture, complete with cannons and pyrotechnics, dancers from American Ballet Theatre perform the famous pas de deux from Swan Lake and their new production of The Nut- cracker. Friday and Saturday, September 7 and 8.
