Back in the 1980s when most little girls were busy playing with their doll houses, Dione Todd had something a bit bigger on her mind. Try real houses.
As a child, Dione was always involved in helping her father build houses. And it’s a passion that this 39- year-old still has today – which as the owner of Medicine Hat’s RE/ MAX Medalta Realty, is a good thing.

“We were involved in helping out and were always pitching in with houses as kids,” says Dione from her newly decorated office. “Building houses and decorating them is just something I’ve always loved.”
Dione officially took over the RE/MAX office in the summer of last year. But this certainly isn’t her first foray into the world of homes. Previously, this certified home builder and her husband had their own home building company and she also sells real estate. She’s also
quick to admit that it’s tough for her to stay in a house for too long. Once she’s completed renovations on a house, she’s itching to move on to the next project.
Dione says she’s always had a desire to own a business. “I’ve always just wanted to be my own boss,” she says.
And it didn’t take long for her to make her stamp on the business – she’s completely renovated the place, complete with new paint and new décor.
As for career goals, Dione gets right to the point. “I want to continue to build our office with the most professional and reputable, hard-working realtors in the city,” she says.
When she’s not busy with her business or her husband and two teenagers, you’ll find Dione volunteering her time with the local Kinette club. The Kinettes raise funds for local causes through events and community projects all in the name of making Medicine Hat a better place to live. And that’s something that resonates with this past president of the club.
“Medicine Hat is such a great city to raise kids,” says Dione – who loves to travel with her family. “I have lived away but I keep coming back.”
