SAW TECHNOLOGY – OPERATION FOCUS

extremely positive results, especially in Eastern Canada where there is a large portable sawmill market. Lenox has attacked this market with a distributor in Quebec, Promax Machinerie. The owners at Promax Machinerie, Luc Marion and Gilles Déry, were very excited to try the new product from Lenox in field testing. To gather accurate test information, Promax ran the blade head-to-head with sawyers who were using blades from the top blade manufacturers for the portable mill industry such as Munkfors and Simonds. Many of the users were sceptical of how the blade would perform prior to the test due to past experience with the Woodmaster C on their portable mills.

Despite the scepticism, the

Woodmaster C-Sharp was able to deliver phenomenal results in testing at every account. “The response from the customers we tested at was unanimous – best blade we have ever tried, bar none”, Marion said. “Whether we were talking performance, blade life, number of board feet, number of sharpenings, etc, we kept hearing the same thing – this is an ‘amazing product’. We will

substantially increase our market share by simply offering the best product that your hard earned money can buy.” Additionally, Lenox realised the

high requirements of versatility demanded by sawyers. The Woodmaster C-Sharp will offer both 7° and 10° rake angle options. Ten degrees is the industry standard rake angle and is the most widely used option for general purpose sawing but many sawyers now are looking to cut through increasingly harder woods that are difficult to cut. The 7° rake angle was designed into the product offering to help sawyers cut difficult, hard-to-cut

and frozen wood. Lenox will also be offering two side-set options to help sawyers achieve optimal performance. If a sawyer is cutting frozen wood or is concerned about dust control, the 0.018 inch offering is the recommended choice, while the 0.022 inch offering is recommended for general purpose sawing. As the industry gains popularity, bigger and more powerful mills are being purchased by sawyers. These sawyers are looking to achieve extreme production rates. This demand requires blades that are thicker and have more stability through the cut. The Woodmaster

C-Sharp has met this need by offering a 0.055 inch thickness offering on 1.25 inch and 1.5 inch blades.

Maiolo and Fernandes agreed:

“The sawyers spoke and we listened. The Woodmaster C-Sharp has all of the features, all of the benefits, and all of the product specifications needed to help make sawyers successful and more profitable in their cutting operations. The Woodmaster C- Sharp has had very strong pre- launch activity and acceptance. The sky is the limit for this exciting new product.” IFI
