SCANNING & OPTIMISATION – On the frontline
Rotation accuracy studies are very time consuming to do, so most mills don’t know how their machine is performing – Green
Screen capture from the PGLR system showing the corrected turn error distribution for the last 1,000 logs, and the uncorrected turn error on the same log set
PGLR system was included as part of the scope of supply on that line as well. Kelly Solmonson is coordinator for all of
Carrier’s mills: “Our goal is to have the best equipment that is out there. Our team believes that when you take ownership of a piece of
equipment you tend to look after it better and take pride in how it runs. “We’re continuing to make improvements (on
the large log line) to achieve the high standards that we look for in our equipment. USNR has been more than cooperative when we’ve
wanted to make changes.” When asked his opinion of the results from
the PGLR systems, Edmonson said, “The PGLR system ensures that we get the recovery we expect to achieve.” IFI
