News PINK PLEASURE
Youth rider Hayley Davies is organising a fabulous charity class at the AQHA UK Breed Show (14-16 Sept, Horse Creek Farm, Cambridgeshire) to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. The class will be an unaffiliated western pleasure competition where all entrants have to wear pink. Inspired by Hayley’s efforts, the Western Equestrian Society’s Chairman, David Brindley, has agreed to run a similar class at the WES Nationals (24-26 Aug, Moreton Morrel, Warkwickshire) and will be competing throughout the three days himself dressed in pink. COMMENT A SAD LOSS
It is with sadness that I have learned of the death of Suzanne Genery, Head of Sports Development at the British Equestrian Federation (BEF). For those who attended the BEF Coaching Convention in 2010, you will recall her immense enthusiasm and wicked sense of humour. She was incredibly encouraging to me when I joined the Coaching Development Action Team in 2006, and the western riding
community owes her a debt of gratitude for her support and backing in establishing western riding coaches as a force to be reckoned at the BEF. She will be greatly missed and our thoughts go out to her family and close friends. Pauline Brimson
