Scores of people turned out on a sunny Sunday morning to take part in a pond- dipping day at Lingfield Nature Reserves. More than 55 children, parents and grandparents plus volunteers came along to the first pond open day of 2012. Pictured is volunteer Sally Cole teaching some of the younger visitors how to use the nets and care for the wildlife before they tried their hand at dipping. strains, sprains, cuts, bumps and bruises last year. Most of them could have received fast-track treatment at a minor injury unit. Edenbridge modern matron
Rachael Renshaw said: “When you are feeling unwell it can be difficult to know where you should go for help. We want our patients to receive the best care, which means using the right service for them. If you are unsure if we can help, call NHS Direct on 0845 4647, where a trained adviser can assist you.” The MIU offers a walk-in service, 365-days-a-year. If you think your problem is more serious you may need to see your own GP or go to an accident and emergency department.

LOCAL school children have been enlisted in the fight against littering in Oxted’s Master Park.
Litter clearance, graffiti and vandalism continue to be a drain on resources, the park’s management committee said in a report to Oxted Parish Council’s annual assembly. To help control littering by young people, who gather there on warm days, the committee liaised with Oxted School resulting in representatives attending meetings and pupils organising litter picking.

Parenting and practical, effective prayer – explore the connection
PARENTS all around the world are recognising the effectiveness of prayer to make a difference for their family. International speaker, Jane Dickinson-Scott says, “Understanding our spiritual relationship with the supreme divine Parent-God helps each of us to express the best qualities of fathering and mothering in our own lives. It helps us to understand how no one can be separated from the love of God.”
Dickinson-Scott, a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science healing, will give a free talk titled, “God’s Fathering and Mothering in our lives”. The talk will take place on Saturday, 19 May at 3pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Church Lane, Oxted, RH8 9LQ. Admission is free. “The talk explores how God, understood as both Father and Mother, values and loves each member of His family,” says Dickinson-Scott.
“I love to see how all of our relationships are enhanced
when we understand our relationship with God.” Dickinson Scott’s ideas are based on the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible, and as discussed in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Jane Dickinson-Scott first trained in baby and child care, working in hospitals and residential care homes for children.
She went on to train and work as a social worker. As a young woman she travelled to India as a volunteer for Save the Children Fund.
Marriage and a growing family steered Jane into the public practice of Christian Science healing and more recently into teaching this Science.
Now as member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship she travels from her home in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, sharing inspirational ideas with people of all ages.
