B & B with a royal twist!

HEVER Castle is helping to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next month with the opening of its luxury bed and breakfast with a royal twist.

The accommodation is situated in the refurbished Astor Wing at the castle – once home to Anne Boleyn, the ill-fated second wife of Henry VIII – and the 21 bedrooms can now be booked individually by people looking for an overnight stay or short break in one of the country’s most historic and romantic estates.

The rooms were previously only available in conjunction with private events.

The chairman of Sevenoaks District Council, Cllr Bob Orridge, officially opened the new bed and breakfast. “I am delighted to be here,” he said. “It was a great opportunity by Hever Castle to provide 21 luxury bedrooms.”

Cllr Orridge added that the bed and breakfast had also provided a lot of work for skilled craftsmen and there was potential for more employment.” All the bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard with sumptuous bathrooms and antique furniture. Guests will also benefit from a pass to visit the 13th century castle, which was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I. They can also visit the gardens, lake and parkland during times when they are closed to the public. For more information call The Astor
