EDENBRIDGE Ladies Hockey Club have been celebrating after finishing as Champions of Kent Division 3 and securing promotion into Kent Division 2. POLICE officers were out on the streets of Oxted and Hurst Green giving advice about shed security following a number of break-ins reported in the Tandridge district. Neighbourhood specialist officer PC Bill Kirsch said the idea was to raise awareness and give residents some practical advice to reduce the risk. “There are many, many ways of securing your shed,” he explained. “Visual deterrents, for instance, are fantastic.” Other items demonstrated on the Surrey

Police’s ‘Don’t lose a shed load’ roadshow outside Morrisons included alarmed padlocks, brackets to chain up valuables and iron bars, which fit across shed doors. For more details on the roadshow, and security advice for your shed please visit www.surrey.police.uk/sheds.

School’s strictly come fundraising

IT was a slightly unusual fundraising event which took place at the Effingham Park Hotel. After many hours of hard work (and some tears and tantrums!) over several weeks, 12 contestants – staff and parents at The Hawthorns School, Bletchingley – took to the floor with their professional dance partners.

They dazzled the 400 guests, made up of

staff, parents and friends, with their light footwork and exciting choreography as they whirled, kicked and flicked their way round the dance floor.

The eventual winner of the spectacular competition was Ian Randall, a father of one of the Year 6 pupils, with two of the teachers, Mel Thomas and Hannah Knight in second and third place respectively.

Joanne OʼReilly from Oxted received a free shed alarm from PC Bill Kirsch
