WORLD-famous clothes de- signer, Karen Millen, visited Holmesdale Technology College for a fashion show, where pupils took to the catwalk in school uni- forms they had designed them- selves. Karen was invited as the guest


of honour because she pre- sented prizes and certificates at the college’s awards evening in 2005. Football tournament A FIVE-A-SIDE football tourna- ment is to be held in Snodland as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. It will be held at Potyns sports- ground on the weekend of June 23 and 24 and already 20 teams from outside Snodland have signed up to take part. Dave Jeal said the tournament

for the style they preferred, and the new uniform comes into force from September for girls in years 7, 8 and 9.


Queen’s Jubilee


THE Queen’s Diamond Ju- bilee celebrations start with a concert by Snodland Choral Society in Christ Church on May 21 and will conclude on June 23 and 24 with a five-a- side football tournament. A 1950s fete takes place on


the recreation ground from 2- 5pmonJune2,andachil- dren’s party will be held at SnodlandWorking Men’s Club, Holborough Road at 6pm. There will be a civic service


in All Saints’ Church at 10am on June 3, followed by a picnic at the Rectory, St Katherine’s Lane at 12.30pm and a con- cert in Christ Church at 5pm. The Scouts will host a street


party in the cricket meadow at 2pm on June 4 and Snodland Community Association is holding a dance from 7.30pm in the community centre. The beacon will be lit on Holly Hill at 10.30pm. Members of Snodland Town


Active Retirement Association will enjoy abuffet lunch on June 5, followed by apensioners’ tea at the Devonshire Rooms. A commemorative issue of
