Cartoons changed into stained glass designs Lightworks Stained Glass, Clitheroe based designers of beautiful stained glass recently came across the creative work of American liturgical illustrator and designer Mathew Alderman. Inspired by the work of Mathew, Daniel Burke owner and founder of Lightworks Stained Glass contacted the artist to ask if he would be interested in turning his cartoons into stained glass. Excited at the prospect of seeing one of his original pieces of work transformed into stained glass the artist immediately gave permission for Lightworks to begin work on a panel sample. Daniel Burke said: “We came across Mathew’s work by pure chance, always looking for bespoke designs it immedi- ately struck us how perfect these cartoons would look

transformed into stained glass.” He went on to say: “When we originally made contact with Mathew he told us that he had been very much inspired by the Irish stained glass artist, Harry Clarke so he was very excited about seeing his work as a stained glass design.” The result is stunning; the illustration is entitled "St. Cecillia of Rome" and is one of Mathew’s original illustrations.

Elementix®

display centre provides inspiration for all Providing inspiration for UK specifiers and architects, Ibstock has opened a new display centre in Cattybrook, Bristol, for its innovative Elementix®

rain

screen cladding systems. The must-see display at Cattybrook is the first of four Ibstock display centres which will open across the UK, all of which have been designed to showcase Ibstock’s excep- tional range of rainscreen cladding solu- tions. Ibstock’s range of clay rainscreen

cladding systems has been developed to offer the specifier an unrivalled choice in façade finishes. Andrew Halstead-Smith, marketing manager at Ibstock, com- mented: “As the UK’s largest clay cladding manufacturer, we understand that selecting the right products in order to create award winning projects can be a hugely difficult and a rather daunting task. The new Cattybrook Elementix®

display

centre not only showcases our extensive offering to architects and specifiers looking to create awe-inspiring finishes, but provides unrivalled technical support on how best the comprehensive range can be utilised to meet their design needs.”

‘Fixed-Click’ rainscreen system Kalzip’s quick-fit, bi-directional FC rainscreen system is extremely cost-effective and is openly available to all contractors. Ideal for new build and refurbishment projects, the FC rainscreen is installed on aligned, vertically fixed modular click rails; each lightweight panel is simply hooked at the top and then clicked into place at the bottom - quick, easy and ingenious! The FC rainscreen’s unique bi- directional (top down / bottom up) installation capability is not only innovative, but also very speedy, which can have a really positive

impact on the site programme and allow for more flexible project scheduling. When working around on-site obstacles such as scaffold connections for example, individual FC panels can be omitted and simply affixed once the scaffolding has been removed. Similarly, in the event of future damage or a desire to change the façade’s appearance, the stylish FC system allows for individual panels to be replaced quickly and easily without affecting adjacent components, thereby negat- ing the costly task of renewing large areas of the rainscreen.

Nvelope: new name in rainscreen cladding support Nvelope Rainscreen Systems Ltd is the new name for a market leading company in rainscreen cladding support systems serving architects, contractors and OEM’s, previously known as Eurofox Engineering Ltd. The move sets a fresh platform for the company to grow as the cladding sector continues to evolve, bring- ing greater clarity to its product offering for customers. Nvelope will build on the acknowledged strengths of the Eurofox Engineering brand, including its reputation for quality products and fast, responsive service. The transition to Nvelope is marked by the launch of a series of innovative products and systems, the intro- duction of dynamic project checklist specification soft-

ware which covers pricing, thermal and static calculation and a comprehensive new look. “For some time, we’ve recognised that the Eurofox Engineering name, for all its undoubted qualities, has its limitations,” says Nvelope’s sales and mar- keting director, Mike Smith. “In contrast, Nvelope Rainscreen Systems aligns us directly with the building envelope and focuses our customers on the products and services that we provide now and will expand on in the future.”

Added protection against heat and sunlight

Solar shield technology (SST) from RENOLIT provides protection against excessive heat build-up in the profile by keeping thermal radiation out. RENOLIT EXOFOL MX and RENOLIT EXOFOL FX exterior films now incorporate SST, so profiles retain their dimensional stability while windows and doors remain tight-fitting. SST acts as a protective shield for the entire profile. The base layer of RENOLIT EXOFOL exterior films is protected by a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) top layer, which is transpar- ent to infrared. This allows SST technology incorporated into the coloured base film to reflect these wavelengths of light, considerably reducing the build-up of heat in the profile. This not only protects the film but the adhesive and profile too. SST benefits both dark and white profiles as the vast major- ity of infra-red radiation never reaches the profile. Outdoor exposure in Arizona showed that even pro- files laminated with dark RENOLIT Exofol films remained below 60°C. RENOLIT EXOFOL is a range of high performance films developed to meet the most exacting requirements for exterior applica- tions. Available in a wide range of decors and colours, RENOLIT EXOFOL films are suitable for appli- cations such as window profiles, garage doors, folding shutters, fencing, exterior doors and architectural cladding. The all-rounder range of RENOLIT EXOFOL MX foils comprises of almost 70 different decors in two collections.
