Northcot Brick extends its range of reclaim bricks Northcot Brick has extended its range of reclaim bricks with three new prod- ucts: the Cherwell Urban Antique, Mixture, and Reclamation Blend. A cost effective alternative to expensive second hand reclaim bricks, the Cherwell range is made from the finest Jurassic Cotswold clay, which is burned in a traditional way in a coal fired kiln and then tumbled to create a worn, weathered and irregular appear-
ance, with the textures and variations in colour that characterise old brickwork. An ideal and economical solution for extensions and renovations, this unique range of wirecut facing bricks is designed to complement a wide range of older looking buildings, particularly those found in the North of England and the Midlands. Unlike many reclaimed second hand bricks, they are manufactured to the latest European standards, including an F2 rating for Frost Resistance, thereby avoiding the high wastage element often associated with second hand bricks.

ASSA customers strike it lucky with security solutions ASSA has introduced a new range of Euro Profile Electric Strikes, completing its exten- sive product portfolio. Com- patible with ASSA’s D450 Euro lock cases, the new range fea- tures four types of electric strikes, each adding electronic
functionality to the popular locking solution range. This is the first time ASSA has offered Euro Profile electric strikes to the market, thus providing improved acces- sibility. They are ideal for use in office spaces, as well as retail and leisure facili- ties, where restricted access is required, for example in staff-only or storage areas. The 517E Euro Profile electric strike uses Direct Current, and is duty con- tinuous fail-locked, remaining open when current is applied, locking when turned off, so ideally suited to areas of high level security. The electric strike features a microswitch to monitor the latch bolt engagement, which can report to the build- ing alarm system or access control system, enabling more efficient building man- agement. It is also available without the microswitch, as the 17E model, which dependently relies upon the security requirements.
Glas Trösch Fireswiss reaches new heights! Glas Trösch Fireswiss Foam has played a signifi- cant part in providing fire safety requirements for the recently opened Prime Tower in Zurich. The build-
ing, one of the most talked about European developments in recent years, features an impressive 750 fire doors. Glas Trösch worked with Forster profile systems to meet the requirements set out by the architect's fire and smoke protection speci- fications. The aim was to provide a design that complemented the building’s exposed concrete and natural stone elements. 472 square metres of Fireswiss Foam 30-15 were supplied to be used within the door system, providing 30 minutes protection from smoke, flame and heat radiation. The doors are made of high quality stainless steel and incorporate integrated door closers, with the result being a fully flush finish that also offers excellent dimensional stability. The door frames were installed into pre-planned openings, which enabled all work to continue on the build- ing without the door installation causing any delay to other elements of the build. The highly polished surfaces were covered with a protective film to ensure they would not be damaged during the final completion of the work around them.
