Columbia River Valley - Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Entiat. Acres of fruit orchards meet the banks of the Columbia River. Te city of Wenatchee is crowned the “Apple Capital of the World.” It is the home of world famous apples and premium wine grapes. As you arrive in the Valley you’ll pass acres and acres of lush green orchards – apple, pear and cherry- flanking the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers. You’ll see numerous fruit stands along the highway selling local fruit and produce along with numerous boutique wineries open for tours and wine tasting. As you’d expect in a city with

two rivers, water sports are some of the summer’s leading activities. Winter brings out the ski, snowboard, snowshoe and snowmobile enthusiasts with some of the best powder snow conditions in the state. Mountain biking and hiking trails in the foothills around the valley are excellent and easily accessible. Tere is also the 11 mile paved Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail skirting the shores of the Columbia River on both banks with parks, habitat areas, playgrounds and swimming holes.


Lake Chelan - Chelan, Manson, Stehekin. Tis pristine, sunny, 55 mile long lake cuts deep into the heart of the Cascade Mountains. Lake Chelan is one of the top summer freshwater recreation areas in the Pacific Northwest. Te narrow, very deep lake slices northwestward into the Cascade Mountains. Te lower end of the lake around the resort towns of Chelan and Manson is dedicated to water recreation. Resort motels and condominiums front on long sandy beaches. Te warm, dry weather is particularly appealing. Shoreside state parks and forest service campgrounds


along the entire length of the lake allow you to plan a boat trip of several days with overnight stops along the way. Along the steeper south shore, paved highway dead ends at 25 Mile Creek and the Lake Chelan State Park featuring camping, picnicking, water sports, camping and boat launching facilities.


Skagit Valley - Burlington, La Conner, Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley. Tis area consists of lazing fields of tulips and daffodils, bald eagle watching and a rich logging heritage. As it reaches Puget Sound, the Skagit River has deposited a vast triangle of flood plain soil and nutrients to create

some of the richest agricultural land in the Northwest. Dotted with trim farmhouses and big red barns, the Skagit Valley is home to the largest commercial bulb industry outside of Holland. Beginning in March and continuing through May, the entire valley is one huge carpet of blooms back-dropped by dramatic views of 10,775’ Mount Baker and the North Cascades. Te Skagit Valley Tulip Festival held throughout April brings thousands of visitors who come to see and photograph the blooms.
