contestants in each event (as per the 2011 Final World Standings) were invited to participate at the Cloverdale Rodeo this year. Te winners of each event in 2012, as well as the winners of Roughstock Rodeos across North America, will be invited to compete in Houston, Texas, in their “Super Shootout” one day event. Tis year’s “Feature Presentation”


in Cloverdale will be the “Horseback Riding Family: Te Hearts of the West”, comprised of five siblings, ages seven to seventeen. Sisters Kaitlynn, Sisko, Taylor, Korrie and brother Lachlan have put together a real ‘wild west’ show that will feature whip cracking, roman riding, trick riding and trick roping. Having had such a remarkable response aſter performing at the 2011 rodeo, the family was invited for another appearance. Other entertainment over the


weekend will include a Sunday night performance by Doug and the Slugs, a new event called the “Cloverdale Cowboy Cook-off” – a fully sanctioned BBQ competition with a $10,000 top prize, the Extreme Zone (also new this year) with freestyle skateboarding and trial bike demonstrations, an outdoor entertainment stage with continual free performances each day, a Kidz Zone, mechanical bull riding, 4H displays and petting farm, an outdoor movie at the Stetson Bowl, a lumberjack show, monster truck rides, a Mainland Misfits roller derby, and more. Right next door to the rodeo is the Cloverdale


Country fair, Fraser Valley’s largest midway, with tons of rides and family entertainment. “Te fair really goes back to the


western heritage and lifestyle that is the foundation of our community,” Ballance explained. “It really celebrates agriculture and those old- country traditional elements of a true country fair. With our main focus on family entertainment, the fair also holds fast to it’s roots – having a large agricultural component and a distinctly western atmosphere.” For more information on the
