Business Association 2012 Art and Wine Stroll! This year’s event takes place Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 2-6 pm in Downtown Gilroy. In addition to the usual stroll path highlighting all the wonderful merchants downtown has to offer, as well as showcasing our amazing local wineries, the Art and Wine Stroll Committee has some new ideas in place! There is a great mix of

years past participants and new-to-the downtown busi- nesses excited to highlight their goods and services. Participating organizations include: Gilroy Medical Supply, Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, Collective Past, Gilroy Garlic Festival Association, Leedo Gallery, Mango Street Kids, The Nimble Thimble/ Garlic City Mercantile, Nine Lives, Pinnacle Bank, Gilroy Vacuum Center, Bonfante Collision Center, Gilroy Antiques, Gilroy Arts Alliance, Station 55 Restaurant, Amoretto Boutique and the Gilroy Demonstration Garden! marquee for the Gilroy Center for the Arts. Right nowd it’s just sitting at Young Signs, waiting for the rest of the changes to the lot between the Center and Porcella’s Music to be finished. Gilroy Arts Alliance is working out the first stage of landscaping for the courtyard at the center and is hoping the lot will be ready, the grass grownd and the fences down before the Wine Stroll. Keep your eyes peeled for fur- ther improvements to what could have been an overgrown eyesore, but with real dedication and hard work, is little by little becoming a beautiful southern entrance to downtown. GAA will be putting out a call for a volunteer gar- den day when the fence comes down, so get your gloves and tools ready. Students: this day will qualify for com- munity service, so let them know if you would like to be notified by leaving a message at 408 842-6999. Meanwhile, inside the Center for

the Arts, GAA is working on their May/June exhibit, The Art of Our Mothers and Fathers. The idea behind this exhibit is to honor the various ways our parents and grand- parents expressed their artistic side, on canvas, paper, sculpture, wood and even dried lima beans. This is your chance to honor your parent, (we stretch this, so it can include an aunt or uncle as well, not just a parent or grandparent), even if you have only one piece to exhibit. Last year the exhibit included gor-

geous handmade Japanese dolls, license plates and driftwood bird
