he Gilroy Rotary Club, together with Syngenta Flowers, is pleased to announce our Annual Flower
Fest – April 7, 2012, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Annual Flower Fest will be held in Gilroy at the world headquarters of hybrid flower giant, Syngenta Flowers. This once-a-year event raises thousands of dollars for our local community and the public is invited! Every spring, Syngenta Flowers
unveils their new products to the horticul- tural industry. They hold a gigantic, week- long show and experts from around the globe come see what’s new. During the event, thousands of flowering plants – some never before seen by the general public – are impeccably grown and dis- played. At the end of the show, Syngenta Flowers opens its doors to the public and invites them to shop right out of their greenhouses!
About Rotary The purpose of being a Rotarian is:
To provide service to the community, to band together with 1.2 million other Rotarians world-wide, and to enjoy and support one another in the service process. Along with the money Gilroy Rotary
raises with the Annual Flower Fest, the Wine Tent at the Garlic Festival and indi- vidual donations from club members, it raises close to $ 90,000 each year. Traditionally, Gilroy Rotary has had a
particular focus on supporting youth pro- grams. These include enhancing the aca- demic and artistic development of our youth. In addition, Gilroy Rotary partici- pates in a number of other community minded events. These include spearhead- ing a registration drive for bone marrow donors, environmental cleanups, annual BBQ for seniors, holiday distribution of poinsettias to volunteer organizations and
strong team participation at the Relay for Life event. A number of other community- based service provider organizations bene- fits from Gilroy Rotary’s charitable giving each year.

know about Gilroy, the southernmost city in Santa Clara County, affection- ately known as the “Garlic Capital of the World.” Those in the flower-seed industry sniff out Gilroy for some- thing other than garlic – namely, flowers. That is because Gilroy is home to one of the largest wholesale breeders of hybrid flower seed. Syngenta Flowers is a multi-national company with more than 2,500 employ-
