me and my motor Gerald Davies, executive chairman of the Kymin Group
Who are you and what do you do? I am Gerald Davies, executive chairman of the Kymin Group (including Redmayne-Bentley Stockbrokers, Kymin Financial Services Ltd and Kymin Corporate Ltd)
What was your very first car and what did you think of it? Opalescent silver blue 2.4 Jaguar (like the one Morse drove). It was beautifully smooth and very grand, although a little underpowered.
What do you drive now and why? BMW Z4 M sport – red with cream upholstery. It makes me feel good.
What is your dream motor? I’m driving it.
Would you ever go electric? No, at least not until they have better performance and range.
What does a car say about its owner? It can say nothing or a great deal. In my case it says that I am a man of exquisite taste!
How important is it for you in your line of business to have the car that you have? It’s not a Ferrari, which I probably couldn’t get into anyway and which would suggest that I am making too much money. However, it demonstrates that I am reasonably good at doing for myself what I attempt to achieve for my clients – make their money grow. As in ‘KYMIN’ – keep your money increasing nicely!
What other cars do you have and have you owned? Currently, our other car is an Alfa Romeo Guiletta Veloce. In the past I have owned several BMWs, including a Z3 and a 325CI coupe, and other makes including a Lotus Elan S3, MGB, and a Triumph Spitfire.
What’s your next car? Probably another BMW
Favourite road to drive on? The last 17 miles of the road to Tenby, where we have our seaside holiday home.
