Riders enjoying the Parklands
Riders from the North discover that there is no finer way to get to know Yorkshire than
by horseback.
he 2012 endurance season got off to a flying start for the West Riding Group of Endurance GB, hosting their first ride of the 2012 season with 50 horses and riders from all over the north of England setting off from the grounds of Nostell Priory and Parklands on Sunday, 19th February.

The promised rains held off leaving a lovely bright but crisp morning, allowing the riders to make the most of the beautiful National Trust parkland and the surrounding bridleways which took in the old colliery sites of Crofton and Nostell Pits, Wintersett and Anglers Country Park, and Haw Park Woods.
The gentle terrain and plentiful off-road riding made the ride very popular for those riders getting their first taste of the area and of endurance riding and proved to be a wonderful training ground for those riding young horses.
Julia Wheatley said “Thanks so much for today. Zara (aged 13) and I on our first event had just the best time. We will be back!”

Paula Bocalandro said “A most fantastic and well organised ride and SUNSHINE- we had it all today, many thanks to West Riding Group of EGB for organising another fab ride!” Helen Plant said “Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make today’s ride so fantastic! A good blast in gorgeous weather was just what we needed to blow the winter cobwebs away!”
Endurance GB are extremely grateful to the National Trust and Lord St Oswald for their generosity in allowing the ride to take place on their property. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the varied course and left eagerly looking forward to the next ride taking place at Brodsworth, just outside of Doncaster on 4th March 2012 (Ride is full already but being repeated in April, so don’t miss the boat this time, enter now! Details in our diary dates - Editor).
