Hi Louise
I believe you have recently interviewed Christine Kennedy who is now based back in her home county of Yorkshire about whether Horse Whisperers are genuine or not? I felt I should support Christine because I, amongst several others in Cornwall, know that she is genuine.
I contacted Christine two years ago when she was then living and working in Cornwall. At the time one of my ponies ‘Arthur’ was going through, what I can only describe as a very depressed period, no matter what I did or fed him I knew he was not a happy boy.
Originally I borrowed Arthur from a friend for my grand-daughter Deanne, I tried to buy him but the owner said at the time that she wanted to keep Arthur for her grandchildren which I could, of course, understand. Deanne and Arthur did very well, and then through no fault of Arthur’s circumstances changed and Arthur went home and then on to another family where again he did very well, this must have been by then his 4th or 5th home.
At the end of September 2009 the owner of Arthur had a stud closing down sale, it was the first time I had seen Arthur in 12 months, Arthur I noticed had lost weight but I put his appearance down to hard work. I then bought Arthur and to the delight of my grandchildren he went back to my yard, but within days I knew he was not right, he wasn’t eating well, spent hours at a time standing at the back of his stable or field eating nothing and really looking miserable. His teeth and health were checked but nothing could be found; we were all mystified, this went on for several weeks with Deanne becoming increasingly upset and I must say it got to a point where I thought we would lose him.
By chance I found Christine’s name on our annual local ‘Show Guide’, Christine’s advert literally fell open in front of me. In the past I have used Horse Whisperers with very good results notably Julia Dickinson but with her passing I felt unsure where to turn but knew I had to try someone as no conventional diagnosis had helped, so I contacted Christine.
From the very start of our conversation I was instructed by Christine not to tell her anything about the pony prior to the visit and not until she asked for information. On entering the stable and in front of me, my grand-daughter and my daughter-in- law, Christine stood very close to Arthur, whispered to him for several minutes and then said did I know this pony was dying, that he had given up and didn’t want to go on any longer. Christine then said, and remember she had no prior knowledge about Arthur, that he was saying he was depressed because all of his life he tried his best, always done well, given all his riders and owner lots of fun and love BUT no-one had wanted to keep him and he just didn’t want to be moved on again so he’d rather die! As you can imagine her statement shocked but also confirmed and lifted the cloud that had been hanging over me, it all made sense because I knew his past history, he was actually wrong because in fact the opposite was the truth he had been a very good pony and everyone who had dealt with him loved him but as children out-grew him he was moved on to a new home. As you can imagine it brought tears to all our eyes including Christine’s. At that moment I made the decision to keep Arthur for the rest of his life and said this out loud, Christine repeated my word to Arthur and then continued checking him over. A few other problems were communicated to Christine, one was that he had been suffering from headaches for years after being hit over the head with a stick this had resulted in him being terrified of anyone touching his ears or plaiting his mane, (which was the case), and that he had a slight weakness in his hind-quarters (I later found out he’d had patellar problems as a youngster). Having dealt with these problems through her spiritual “Vets” (Christine would have to explain them to you) Christine ended the session. We walked outside the stable and headed for a well-earned cup of tea, I then filled Christine in on Arthur’s history.
On returning to the yard Deanne said “Look at Arthur”, believe it or not that pony was standing at his door ears pricked, eyes sparkling and with a mouth full of hay, the transformation was amazing. That was over 12 months ago last year Deanne and Arthur (plaited with no problems) went on to greater success ending the season on a high of Reserve Part-bred Champion & then Reserve Overall Champion, (pics attached) unfortunately Deanne has now outgrown Arthur but her brother will now take over the reins with two more sisters fast coming up behind but one thing is sure he will never leave us until the good Lord takes him.
I’m sorry this is so long but I wanted to show you that Christine is not a charlatan she is genuine and I’m not the only one in Cornwall who thinks so, our sadness is that Christine has returned to Yorkshire and we now have to wait for her infrequent, busy visits.
Best wishes Marie

I try to keep things as simple as I can for people as it’s hard to understand what you cannot see. My healing work takes me up and down the country from top yards to people who have rescued horses and need my help. I have travelled to Portugal, Brazil and Australia in the course of my work. My healing work is a way of life to me. When I am treating horses, I come alive. I know I am doing the job I am meant to do.
I am a certified healer, I am not a vet and I do not diagnose. My website is
